Vladimir Kagan (1927–2016) was a pioneering figure in post-war American design, celebrated for his organic forms, cantilevered structures, and sculptural approach to furniture. Trained in architecture, Kagan brought a bold, architectural sensibility to his work, most famously through his iconic lounge chairs and curving sofas. While rooted in American modernism, his work was also deeply informed by European craftsmanship and tradition.

This rare spider-legged coffee table was designed by Kagan and produced under licence by Danish manufacturer Sika Møbler in the 1960s. Unlike Kagan’s more flamboyant American designs, this piece presents a quieter, more Scandinavian interpretation, elegant, restrained, and beautifully resolved.

The base is constructed from solid teak, with four arched legs that rise and tension into a sculptural, spider-like stance. The hand-shaped joints are refined and architectural, supporting a floating circular glass top that creates a sense of lightness and balance.

A design that blends mid-century American innovation with Danish craftsmanship.
