Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen Coffee Table for France & Son, Denmark, 1960s

A beautifully simple coffee table designed by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen for France & Son in Denmark during the 1960s.

The table has the same elegant construction as the matching sofa and armchairs, with a refined timber frame and distinctive sled-style base. Its clean lines and understated proportions make it a very versatile piece, while still having the sculptural quality associated with Hvidt and Mølgaard-Nielsen’s work.

The table is currently awaiting restoration. The frame and top will be carefully stripped and refinished to bring back the warmth and character of the wood.
