Henry Rosengren Hansen (1916–2002) was a Danish designer renowned for his refined, functional furniture that epitomises mid-century Scandinavian modernism. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts before beginning his career at FDB (Forbrugernes Samvirke), where he contributed to the development of accessible, well-crafted furniture for the Danish public. In the 1940s, he established his own design company, HRH (Henry Rosengren Hansen), creating modernist wooden pieces characterised by clean, functional lines. Later, he collaborated with esteemed manufacturers such as Brande Møbelindustri and Fritz Hansen. His work is distinguished by meticulous joinery, sculptural forms and the use of rich woods such as teak and rosewood. We’ve sympathetically restored this cabinet by carefully sanding it back to reveal the natural grain of the teak, then finishing it with oil to bring out its rich, warm tones. A sophisticated and functional piece, perfect for entertaining or simply enjoying at home.
