A beautifully proportioned Trio sideboard designed by Nils Jonsson for the Swedish manufacturer Troeds in the 1960s. The design combines clean Scandinavian lines with practical storage, featuring two black sliding doors, a bank of drawers with sculpted handles, and generous shelving.
We have fully restored this piece:
• Sliding doors professionally resprayed in satin black
• All teak surfaces stripped, sanded, and oiled to bring out the natural grain
• Internal drawers and cupboards carefully restored, now running smoothly
Constructed from solid wood and teak veneer, this sideboard is both exceptionally sturdy and very heavy, reflecting the quality of Scandinavian craftsmanship.
About the designer
Nils Jonsson was a Swedish furniture designer whose work helped shape the mid-century modern movement. Born in Småland, he began his career at just 14 as an apprentice in a furniture factory, where he gained a grounding in craftsmanship and woodworking. By the 1940s he had opened his own workshop in Tranås, developing a style defined by clean lines, functional layouts, and refined use of materials.
One of his most notable designs was the Delphi chair, created in 1954 for the Swedish Pavilion at the Triennale di Milano, which showcased his ability to combine innovative construction with elegant simplicity. Though his career was cut short by his early death in 1958, Jonsson’s designs for manufacturers such as Troeds remain enduring examples of Scandinavian modernism.
About the manufacturer
Founded in 1934, Troeds became one of Sweden’s most respected furniture makers, producing elegant and well-made pieces throughout the 1950s and 60s. Working with designers such as Nils Jonsson and Yngve Ekström, Troeds helped define the international reputation of Scandinavian modern design.
