Teak Chest of Drawers, Denmark (1950s)
Teak Chest of Drawers, Denmark (1950s)
A well proportioned Danish chest of drawers dating from the 1950s, in solid teak and raised on tapering supports. The piece is very robust, reflecting the high manufacturing standards of post war Danish cabinetmaking.
The three drawers are assembled with lovely dovetail joints, a detail typically reserved for higher quality production and one that ensures long term structural stability. The sculpted wooden handles are integrated cleanly into the drawer fronts, maintaining the restrained, functional character associated with mid-century Scandinavian design.
Unmarked, but consistent in materials, proportions and construction with Danish workshop production of the period.
The compact scale makes it a versatile piece, suitable as a bedside chest, hallway storage or small freestanding cabinet, while retaining the warmth and integrity of solid teak throughout.
Condition
Good vintage condition with light, age-appropriate wear. Structurally very sound with smoothly running drawers.
