Erling Torvits (1925–1991) was a Danish mid-century furniture designer known for refined Scandinavian Modern creations. Trained as a cabinetmaker, Torvits established his own studio in Jutland and designed for manufacturers like Heltborg Møbler in the 1950s and 1960s. His rosewood nesting tables for Heltborg, first introduced in 1958, exemplify his clean-lined, functional style and remain one of his signature designs. Though never as famous as contemporaries like Hans Wegner or Finn Juhl, Torvits holds a respected place in mid-century Danish design, and his Heltborg pieces are now prized by collectors.
