The Model 415, later known as the 1401, is one of Rietveld’s best-known designs. Its very simple construction combines a slender black metal frame, moulded back and distinctive Bakelite armrests, giving the chair a beautifully light and architectural appearance.

The design was first shown at the Milan Triennale in 1954, where it was awarded a gold medal. Despite being over seventy years old, it still feels remarkably modern.

This set of three is currently awaiting restoration. The existing upholstery will be completely removed and each chair will be reupholstered in our workshop with new fire-retardant cushion interiors and fabric.

The image shown is a stock image to illustrate how the chairs can look once restored. The price includes your choice of fabric from our mid-range collections. Premium fabrics are available at an additional cost.
