Whitefriars, Blue Teardrop Vase (Pattern No. 9572) by Geoffrey Baxter, c.1960s
Whitefriars Glass was one of the most important names in British glassmaking, known for blending traditional craftsmanship with bold, modern design. In the 1960s, under the creative leadership of Geoffrey Baxter, the studio introduced a new generation of sculptural forms and vivid colours - many of which have become mid-century icons.
This hand-blown Teardrop Vase in rich blue glass is pattern number 9572, designed by Baxter in the early 1960s. The form is simple and elegant, with a gently tapering body and rounded base that highlights the clarity and depth of the coloured glass. The design reflects Baxter’s sculptural training and his instinct for proportion and balance.
A beautifully weighted piece—refined in its simplicity, and timeless in its appeal.
