G Plan  emerged in 1953 under the direction of Donald Gomme, grandson of furniture maker Ebenezer Gomme. In the post-war era, G Plan revolutionised home interiors by offering modular, mix-and-match furniture pieces, allowing consumers to furnish their homes gradually rather than purchasing complete matching sets. The brand gained prominence for its sleek, modern designs, notably the ‘Brandon’ range in light oak. In the 1960s, G Plan collaborated with Danish designer Ib Kofod-Larsen to introduce the ‘G Plan Danish’ line, featuring minimalist aesthetics and high-quality woods like teak and rosewood. Another iconic collection, the ‘Fresco’ range designed by V.B. Wilkins, became emblematic of mid-century modern style with its sculpted handles and modular versatility.
