Henry Moore - 80th Birthday Exhibition Poster (1978)
Signed Edition
Description
An original 1978 exhibition poster produced for Henry Moore: 80th Birthday Exhibition, held at Bradford Art Galleries and Museums, including Cartwright Hall and Lister Park. This rare surviving example is signed by Henry Moore, adding significant value and collectability.
The poster features Moore’s monumental Three Piece Reclining Figure no. 1 in bronze set against open sky - a perfect illustration of how his large-scale organic forms interact with landscape.
The poster shows slight natural crumpling consistent with its age, but this is minimal and does not detract.
Newly framed in a soft-toned wooden frame chosen to echo the patina of the sculpture, and fitted with ArtGlass to dramatically reduce glare and reflections.
Frame size: 65 × 90 cm.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition overall.
About the Exhibition
Moore’s 80th Birthday Exhibition in 1978 marked an important national celebration of his contribution to British art. Hosted in Bradford - close to his Yorkshire birthplace - the exhibition brought together major outdoor and indoor works, presenting Moore not only as a sculptor of international significance but as a central figure in Britain’s post-war cultural identity.
About Henry Moore
Henry Moore (1898–1986) is regarded as one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th century. His abstracted, semi-figurative forms, often inspired by the human body and natural landscapes, transformed modern sculpture. Moore’s public commissions can be found around the world, and his large bronzes are instantly recognisable for their quiet monumentality, tactility, and organic silhouettes.
Signed pieces and original exhibition posters from the 1970s are increasingly scarce.
