Pair of FK-87 Grasshopper Chaise Lounges
Fabricius & Kastholm for Alfred Kill, 1960s — Available to Rent
A remarkable pair of FK-87 “Grasshopper” chaise lounges - these are some of the most recognisable silhouettes from Danish modernism. With their long, elegant lines, stainless-steel frames and leather-upholstered seats, they bring instant architectural presence.
Designed in the 1960s by Danish architects Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm, and manufactured by Alfred Kill in Germany, the Grasshopper is a study in refined engineering and restraint. The trio’s collaboration was defined by precision, clarity of form and a dedication to high-quality materials - all of which are evident in these pieces.
The pair works beautifully together in large editorial sets, contemporary interiors, gallery spaces or high-end commercial environments where symmetry, sculptural repetition or a sense of quiet luxury is needed.
Designer Background
Fabricius & Kastholm were known for their architectural training and their ability to translate structural logic into furniture. Their partnership, though short-lived, produced some of the most celebrated designs of the Danish modern period. Alfred Kill’s workshop provided the technical expertise in steel construction that allowed their ideas to be realised with exceptional craftsmanship.
