Designer: Ky Varjonen
Origin: Finland

A finely balanced Finnish stick-back chair by Ky Varjonen, featuring a gently curved top rail supported by slender spindles and a solid seat rest below. The entire piece is raised on elegant splayed legs, all finished in a rich ebonised tone that accentuates its crisp, architectural lines.

With a maker’s label to the underside, this chair is a strong example of mid-century Nordic design, simple, purposeful, and beautifully proportioned. It sits well as a stand-alone piece in a hallway, bedroom, or reading corner, but could also be paired with others for an informal dining setting.

About the Designer
Ky Varjonen was part of the post-war wave of Finnish furniture designers who embraced craftsmanship, clarity of form, and democratic design ideals. His work often incorporated traditional Nordic forms reinterpreted with modernist restraint and subtle flair.

Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The ebonised finish is deep and consistent with only minimal signs of wear. Structurally sound and ready to use.
