Oval Dining Table by A.J. Milne for Heals, c.1960

A beautifully proportioned oval dining table designed by A.J. Milne for Heals, dating from around 1960.

The table has a finely figured walnut top, detailed with contrasting teak strips running through the surface. The elegant oval top is supported by a beautifully constructed timber base, with tapered legs and distinctive crossing stretchers underneath.

It is a lovely example of British mid-century furniture, combining a relatively simple silhouette with thoughtful construction and subtle decorative detail.

This is a current photograph of the table before restoration. The surface shows signs of age and use and will be carefully sanded and oiled in our workshop before sale, bringing out the richness and variation in the timber while retaining the character of the original piece.

A particularly good size for a dining table, comfortably seating six without feeling overly large in a room.
