Circular Teak and Wicker Coffee Table by Johannes Andersen for CFC Silkeborg, 1960s
A beautifully proportioned circular coffee table designed by Johannes Andersen for CFC Silkeborg in the 1960s.
Made from teak, the table has a simple round top above an elegant open base, with gently tapered legs and a woven wicker shelf suspended underneath. The combination of warm teak and the lighter woven shelf gives the piece a lovely balance and makes it particularly useful as well as decorative.
Johannes Andersen was known for his refined, sculptural approach to Danish furniture design, often using simple forms with carefully considered details. This table is a good example, with the lower shelf becoming an important part of the overall design rather than simply a practical addition.
The image shown is a stock image. Our table is currently awaiting restoration and requires sanding, oiling and restringing to the lower shelf. This work will be completed by us before delivery.
