Tamara Aladin for Riihimäen Lasi - Model 1495 “Safari” Vase (Cinnamon Brown)

Finland · Circa 1960s/70s

A tall Model 1495 “Safari” vase designed by Tamara Aladin (1932–2019) for Riihimäen Lasi. The series is one of Aladin’s most recognisable designs - bold, architectural forms combined with textured, light-catching glass. This example is in the rich cinnamon brown colourway, its deep tone shifting beautifully when placed near natural light.

The vase is mould-produced with a hammered exterior texture, giving the piece both depth and a tactile, sculptural quality. The pronounced top section creates a strong silhouette, typical of Aladin’s ability to make functional pieces feel like art objects.

Tamara Aladin was one of Riihimäki’s key designers during the 1960s and 70s, known for her modernist sensibility and her interest in geometric forms. Riihimäen Lasi itself was one of Finland’s most important glassworks, producing some of the country’s most collected mid-century designs.

Excellent condition.
