Danish Turned Teak Bowl - Denmark

This sculptural turned teak bowl was made in Denmark and bears the classic “Denmark” mark used by many mid-century Danish workshops producing high-quality wooden objects during the 1950s - 1970s.

The bowl has been carved from a single block of teak and turned on a lathe, revealing the beautiful layered grain of the timber. The surface shows the subtle rippling that comes from the turning process, giving the piece a strong sense of movement when viewed up close. Over time the teak has developed a warm, honey-brown tone typical of well-aged Danish teak.

Its proportions are generous without being oversized, making it suitable both as a decorative object and as a practical bowl for fruit or serving. The curved walls and thick rim give it a satisfying weight in the hand, while the interior shows the gentle circular pattern left by the turning process.

Objects like this were often produced alongside furniture by Danish manufacturers during the mid-century period, reflecting the wider Scandinavian design approach of bringing natural materials and carefully made everyday objects into the home.

This example remains in very good vintage condition with light surface marks consistent with age and use.
