Emily's Edit - My Gift Guide Favourites
Hi everyone
Happy December! - I love giving gifts, I’m always making handmade cards, ceramics and prints for the people I care about. As a photographer, I’m constantly observing how objects shape a space, which made curating this year’s gift guide an absolute joy
A big part of my role at a fold of chairs is photographing, styling, and listing our new stock. In the lead-up to winter, we spent hours brainstorming how to make this giving season feel extra special
These are a few of my favourites from this year’s guide.
(Like Caroline, I have to admit… it’s hard not to want everything for yourself)
This DDR-era desk lamp is so beautiful. I recently photographed it in Caroline’s home during a shoot, and it looked effortlessly at home next to her modular Robin Day sofa. I especially love shooting this lamp in the colder months, when the evenings start to draw in.
And there’s just something about that big red “do not press” button - I can’t help.
it, I love it. (And I have to admit… it’s incredibly satisfying to press.)

It wouldn’t be an A Fold of Chairs gift guide without a chair.
This is one of my favourite upholstery projects we’ve filmed so far. The leather is stunning, and I love how the intricate squares pattern all three cushions.
It’s a true standout piece - definitely one I’d have in my studio apartment in New York, placed next to a Kundalini ETA lamp, with my Leica camera collection nearby. Okay yes, this is definitely the gift I would buy for myself...

Thirdly, I’d choose this early 20th-century domino set.
The dominoes are made of bone and ebony, and the mahogany box is beautiful in itself.
What really stands out to me is the delicate counter strip that comes with it, it’s what drew Caroline and myself to the piece in the first place.
I’d absolutely buy this for my dad, who’s a collector and admires delicate vintage designs.
Ah, the Olivetti Valentine Typewriter. If you’ve been with us for a while, you might remember the series of posters I made for our Olivetti campaign we launched a few months ago.
I actually have a bright yellow Silverette typewriter of my own at home - my dad bought it for me - and I use it every chance I get. My favourite thing to do is send typed letters to my grandma in America; she absolutely loves them.
There’s something beautiful about an object that feels so tactile. The Olivetti Valentine typewriter is truly iconic; I even spotted it on display at the Design Museum recently as part of their collection of landmark designs.
