Teak ‘Caspian’ Sideboard by Nathan Furniture (1960s)
A beautifully made mid-century teak sideboard from Nathan’s sought-after Caspian range - a collection known for its clean lines, warm grain patterns and thoughtful internal layouts. Nathan Furniture, established in the early 20th century, became a major name in British modern design during the 1950s–70s, producing well-crafted, Scandinavian-inspired pieces for the post-war home. Their use of solid teak and veneered panels, combined with distinctive recessed handles, made their cabinets both functional and quietly elegant.
This example features three upper drawers - perfect for cutlery, linens or day-to-day storage - and three lower cupboard sections with fixed shelving, offering generous internal space. The teak has a rich, even tone with beautifully matched grain across the doors, and the proportions are light and balanced, sitting on slightly tapered legs that give it a lift in the room.
The sideboard has been carefully cleaned and oiled in our studio, bringing out the depth of the timber and preserving its original finish.
