A classic two-bay Ladderax modular shelving system designed by Robert Heal for Staples during the golden era of British modernism. This freestanding unit features three black metal ladder-style uprights supporting a series of teak elements, including adjustable open shelves, a fall-front bureau/cocktail cabinet, and a chest of drawers.
Flexible, architectural, and timeless, Ladderax was designed to combine the best elements of Danish modern styling with British practicality. It can be reconfigured easily to suit changing needs, ideal as a drinks station, compact office setup, or display and storage system.
About the Designer
Robert Heal designed the Ladderax system in 1964, drawing inspiration from the modular principles of Dieter Rams and the clean lines of Scandinavian furniture. Manufactured by Staples of Cricklewood, London, Ladderax became an icon of British design and remains highly collectable for its adaptability and visual clarity.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. All teak elements will be lightly cleaned and polished. The metal uprights retain their original black finish. The fall-front cabinet functions smoothly and interior surfaces are clean.
