Nuutajärvi Glass Bird – Summer Grouse by Oiva Toikka
Finland, 1990s
Two available – each one-of-a-kind
A richly patterned hand-blown glass bird designed by Oiva Toikka and made at the Nuutajärvi glassworks in Finland. This model, the Summer Grouse, is known for its warm yellow tones, fine feather-like detailing, and subtly iridescent surface.
Each bird is individually blown and hand-finished, meaning no two are quite the same. We currently have two in stock, similar in colour and form, but with slight variations in patterning and size that make each one unique.
Part of Toikka’s iconic “Birds by Toikka” series, which began in 1972 and became a cornerstone of modern Finnish glass design. His work is celebrated for its imaginative forms, rich colour palettes, and a sense of character that sets it apart from the more restrained minimalism of his contemporaries.
Signed to the base and retains the original Iittala label.
Excellent condition.
