Bruce McLean (b. 1944)
Bruce McLean is a Scottish artist known for his bold, irreverent approach to contemporary art across sculpture, painting, performance, and print. Emerging in the 1960s as a reaction against formalism, he challenged traditional notions of sculpture through ephemeral and often humorous works. A key figure in British conceptual art, McLean’s practice is rooted in satire and critique, of the art world, institutions, and cultural conventions. Where Do You Stand – Lobster Factor 10 reflects his signature use of vivid imagery and wit, combining playful aesthetics with layered, often ironic commentary. McLean lives and works in London and continues to influence generations of artists through both his work and teaching.
