'Eva' Chairs by Niels Koefoed for Koefoeds Hornslet, (1960s) Denmark - Available to order

The Eva chair, designed by Niels Koefoed for Koefoeds Hornslet, is a refined example of Danish mid century dining design.  It has a tall, gently tapering back with a series of vertical spindles, paired with a shaped seat and well balanced frame.

We currently hold a number of Eva chairs in storage and can offer them restored and upholstered to order, allowing for a consistent, tailored set.

Each chair is restored in our St Albans studio:
    •    Frames revived and oiled
    •    New fire retardant foam (Crib 5 compliant)
    •    Upholstered in a carefully selected mid-price point fabric or leather (with options to upgrade)

This approach retains the clarity of the original design while ensuring they are ready for everyday use.

About the Designer

Niels Koefoed was a Danish designer closely associated with the family-run manufacturer Koefoeds Hornslet. His work focused on dining furniture, with designs such as the Eva, Ingrid, and Lis chairs forming a coherent series built on variations of proportion and backrest detail.

Rather than producing singular statement pieces, Koefoed developed a language of chairs that explored small shifts in form, particularly in the shaping of backs and seats, while maintaining consistency in craftsmanship and material. His work reflects the broader Danish modern tradition of restrained, well made, and long term use.
