About Jeremy Nichols
Jeremy Nichols (b. 1957) is a highly regarded British studio potter best known for his salt-glazed teapots, jugs and pouring vessels. He originally trained in engineering science at Durham University and pursued a career in theatre lighting before studying ceramics at Camberwell College of Arts and the Royal College of Art.
Nichols’ work is distinguished by its architectural precision, meticulously designed components and technical control of the salt-firing process. His teapots - often described as “aerodynamic” or “mechanical”- combine complex construction with a strong sense of balance and playfulness. He is a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association and exhibits internationally, with pieces held in significant private and public collections.
Each work is formed in stoneware and salt-fired to achieve its unique surface and tonal variation, making every piece one of a kind.
