A beautiful 1988 exhibition poster produced by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, for 'From the Postwar Collection' - a curated presentation of key works held in the museum’s permanent collection. Rothko’s work featured prominently within this period, reflecting the Guggenheim’s long history of collecting and exhibiting Abstract Expressionism.

This edition reproduces Rothko’s classic Untitled (black and Orange), 1956, capturing his distinctive soft-edged planes of colour and the atmospheric depth he is known for. Exhibition posters from this era of the Guggenheim are increasingly sought after, particularly in this condition.

The poster has been newly framed in matt black wood and fitted with ArtGlass, which dramatically reduces glare and reflections while retaining colour accuracy.
Frame size: 92 × 69 cm

Condition: Excellent.

About the Guggenheim
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is one of the world’s most important institutions for modern and contemporary art. Its postwar collection includes foundational works by American Abstract Expressionists - Rothko among them - and exhibitions like the 1988 programme helped cement the international understanding of this movement.

About Mark Rothko
Mark Rothko (1903-1970) was a leading figure of Abstract Expressionism. His large, contemplative canvases of layered colour fields were intended to evoke emotional and spiritual responses. Rothko’s later works - often darker, quieter, and more immersive - are considered some of the most significant paintings of the 20th century and remain central to major museum collections worldwide.
