‘Luta’ Chair by Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia, 2007
This ‘Luta’ swivel chair was designed by Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia and forms part of the Italian company’s refined approach to contemporary workspace seating. The design combines technical precision with an understated architectural presence, making it suitable for both domestic interiors and professional environments.
The chair features a sculptural shell formed from a fine metal mesh, profiled neatly around the edge to create integrated armrests. The transparency of the mesh gives the piece a light visual quality while maintaining structural strength. The shell sits on an aluminium four-star swivel base with a slim central column, creating a balanced and elegant profile.
In our workshop the chair has been carefully restored. The metalwork has been fully polished and the seat pad has been newly upholstered in a soft grey-black leather, providing a subtle contrast with the metal mesh back. The leather adds warmth and comfort while respecting the original minimal aesthetic of the design. The result is a chair that presents as fresh and crisp, ready for many more years of use.
A versatile piece, the Luta chair works particularly well as a desk chair, meeting chair, or occasional chair in a contemporary interior.
