Vintage Metamec Wall Clock, England, c.1960s
A mid century wall clock by Metamec, one of Britain’s most recognisable clock manufacturers of the post-war period.
Featuring a soft powder blue dial with raised silver numerals, contrasting black hands and a chrome-effect bezel, the design perfectly captures the optimism and clean styling of the 1960s. The combination of colour, typography and simple geometric form gives the clock a distinctly modern character while remaining remarkably versatile in contemporary interiors.
Founded in Staffordshire, Metamec became one of the UK’s leading clock makers during the mid-twentieth century, producing affordable modern designs for homes, schools and public buildings. Today their clocks are increasingly sought after for their distinctive styling and connection to British mid-century design.
This example retains its original dial, hands and casing and presents beautifully. The pale blue colour is particularly appealing and less commonly encountered than the more neutral variants.
Condition
Good vintage condition with light signs of age consistent with its years. The clock is in full working order, has been tested and is keeping accurate time. Minor age related marks may be present to the case and dial, as expected from a piece of this age.
A practical and decorative piece of British mid-century design that works equally well in a kitchen, home office, hallway or living space.
