A hand-decorated ceramic wall tile by Anita Harris Pottery, measuring 35.5 × 24.5cm. Decorated with a mottled splashed design in layered coloured glazes, the tile is signed and bears the pottery’s relief moulded seal to the reverse.

Anita Harris established Anita Harris Art Pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, continuing the long tradition of hand decorated British art pottery in the heart of England’s ceramic industry. Having previously worked as Head Designer at Poole Pottery, Harris brought together traditional decorating techniques with contemporary glaze experimentation, producing individually hand-finished ceramics rather than factory-produced wares.

Working with a small team of decorators, each piece is individually glazed using techniques including lustres, reactive glazes, tube-lining and hand painting. While the pottery produces a range of vases, chargers and decorative objects, ceramic wall plaques and tiles have become an important part of its output, reflecting the continuing tradition of British decorative ceramics.
