Sibast No. 9 dining chair by Helga Sibast, Denmark (1950s) (on hold)
Sibast No. 9 dining chair by Helga Sibast, Denmark (1950s) (on hold)
These elegant Sibast No.9 chairs by Danish designer Helge Sibast have been fully restored in our workshop. The sculptural curved backrests have been carefully re-veneered in rich sapelé, bringing back their original warmth and depth of tone. The seats have been reupholstered in Tiree by Bute Fabrics - a soft, tightly woven wool in Swan, a pale neutral shade that pairs beautifully with the timber.
Originally designed in the 1950s, the No.9 was part of a collection that cemented Sibast’s reputation for craftsmanship and considered detail. Like many of his pieces, it balances Danish modernism’s clean lines with a sense of warmth and tactility.
Helge Sibast (1908–1984) was part of the generation that defined Danish furniture design in the mid-century period. Having trained as a cabinetmaker, he took over his father’s workshop in the 1930s and developed it into one of Denmark’s most respected furniture makers. His designs - from the celebrated No.8 and No.7 dining chairs to the rarer No.9 - were produced with the precision and integrity that came to symbolise the golden age of Danish craftsmanship.
