It was introduced in 1943 when Lucian Ercolani was commissioned by the British Board of Trade to develop a Windsor chair that could be produced efficiently during wartime, using relatively small amounts of timber while still maintaining strength and comfort.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eErcolani’s solution refined the traditional Windsor form into something lighter and more modern. The chair features the characteristic high spindle back, with eight slender, steam bent spindles set into a shaped top rail and a solid sculpted seat. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eProduced in solid ash, the design demonstrates Ercol’s expertise in steam bending and traditional chairmaking techniques.
